Start with the kitchen and bathrooms. Finish with the floors.

Remove food, crumbs and grease
Check appliances, shelves, drawers, counters, the backsplash and sink. Clean handles and cabinet fronts as well as the surfaces you see at first glance. Fridge, oven and cabinet interiors are optional NearMe add-ons.
Clean fixtures and their edges
Work through mirrors, sinks, taps, the shower or tub, and the toilet—including its base. Check corners and the floor behind the toilet before finishing the floor.
Check empty storage, then clean the floors
Dust reachable shelves, ledges, door frames and baseboards. Open closets to check for belongings and debris. Vacuum edges and corners, then mop hard floors with a product suitable for the finish.

Room-by-room checks
Look inside, around and behind the obvious spots.
Use this list when checking the home. Some tasks are optional add-ons to a NearMe clean, so confirm what you have booked before the appointment.
Kitchen interiors
Inside the oven, refrigerator and cabinets are selectable extras. Empty the relevant spaces and defrost where needed before the appointment.
Closets, storage and utility areas
Remove every personal item and disposal bag, then include these quieter areas in the final walkthrough.
Bathroom fixtures and floors
Check taps, toilet bases, shower or tub surfaces, mirrors, floors, baseboards and reachable edges.
Interior glass, blinds and wall spots
Check glass for fingerprints, tracks for debris and reachable walls for removable marks. These are optional NearMe add-ons. Use a method suitable for the material; avoid scrubbing delicate paint or bending blind slats.
Cleaning the easily missed areas
Open the doors and check the edges.
An empty room can look clean while crumbs, dust and residue remain out of sight. Add these checks to your final pass, whether you clean yourself or hire help.
Follow the appliance instructions
Remove food before cleaning the fridge and loose crumbs before cleaning the oven. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and defrosting instructions. Do not pull out heavy appliances to reach behind them.
Remove debris before wiping
Empty each compartment, remove loose crumbs, then wipe with a product suitable for the finish. Let surfaces dry before closing them. Check drawer corners and the underside of handles.
Look where furniture used to stand
Check closet shelves, floor edges and the places previously hidden by beds or sofas. Remove remaining belongings and rubbish, dust reachable surfaces, then vacuum the exposed floor.
Cleaning and the final inspection
We clean the home. You complete the inspection.

BC requires a tenant to leave the rental clean. Work through the kitchen, bathrooms, living areas, bedrooms, storage and floors; review the current Residential Tenancy Branch responsibility guideline and any lawful property-specific instructions.
