Planning your cleaning day

How long does a full house cleaning usually take?

Allow a few hours for a routine house clean. A larger home, heavy buildup or a Deep or Move-Out clean can take longer. The useful estimate is how long the cleaner or team will be in your home—not a time based on bedrooms alone.

Before you arrange work calls, school pickup or a move-out inspection around the appointment, confirm the expected visit length with NearMe.

What changes the timing

Two homes with the same bedroom count can need different amounts of cleaning.

Bathrooms and kitchens

A second bathroom or an additional kitchen adds more work than another lightly used bedroom. Include basement suites and any separate cooking areas when describing the home.

Condition, not just floor area

Grease, soap buildup, pet hair and long gaps between cleans take time to address. Tell us which rooms need the most attention rather than choosing a service from bedroom count alone.

The selected checklist

Routine dusting and floors are different from detailed baseboard, frame and edge cleaning. Compare the Standard, Deep and Move In/Out checklists before planning the visit.

Extras and access

Appliance interiors and other selected extras add work. Parking, elevator access, keys and clear pathways also affect how smoothly the appointment can run.

Plan around the cleaning you need.

The package name tells you the type of work. The home and selected tasks determine the time needed.

Standard and recurring visits

These focus on the routine kitchen, bathroom, dusting and floor work in a maintained home. Regular visits can make the work more predictable, particularly when surfaces stay accessible between cleans.

Deep Cleaning

Allow more room in your schedule when buildup and detailed edges need attention. Share the condition of the bathrooms, kitchen and other priority areas so the cleaning plan reflects the home.

Move In/Out Cleaning

Arrange cleaning after belongings and movers are out. Keep water, power and access available, then leave a separate window for your walkthrough and key handoff.

See Move In/Out Cleaning

Inside the fridge, oven and cabinets, interior windows and tracks, blinds, and reachable interior wall spot-cleaning are optional add-ons for every clean. Select the extras you need when planning the visit. Compare the full checklist.

Three details to settle before cleaning day.

Arrival and finish

An arrival window is not the length of the clean. Confirm the expected time on site separately, and mention any fixed finish deadline before the appointment is arranged.

Team size

Ask whether the estimate is for one cleaner or a team. More cleaners can work in parallel, but the same checklist still needs to be completed.

Entry and room access

Share parking, fob and elevator instructions. Clear clothes, toys and personal items from the areas you want cleaned, and arrange a safe place for pets.

Questions about cleaning time

Bedroom count alone is not enough to set the appointment length. Three bedrooms with one bathroom and a maintained kitchen are a different job from three bedrooms with several bathrooms, a separate suite and heavy buildup. Share the bathroom count, approximate size, service and extras to discuss a useful estimate.
